Gene name | MED13 |
Protein name | Mediator of RNA polymerase II transcription subunit 13 (Activator-recruited cofactor 250 kDa component) (ARC250) (Mediator complex subunit 13) (Thyroid hormone receptor-associated protein 1) (Thyroid hormone receptor-associated protein complex 240 kDa component) (Trap240) (Vitamin D3 receptor-interacting protein complex component DRIP250) (DRIP250) Mediator complex subunit 13 |
Synonyms | TRAP240 ARC250 THRAP1 KIAA0593 |
Description | FUNCTION: Component of the Mediator complex, a coactivator involved in the regulated transcription of nearly all RNA polymerase II-dependent genes. Mediator functions as a bridge to convey information from gene-specific regulatory proteins to the basal RNA polymerase II transcription machinery. Mediator is recruited to promoters by direct interactions with regulatory proteins and serves as a scaffold for the assembly of a functional preinitiation complex with RNA polymerase II and the general transcription factors. . |
